Alex Fortich
Mr. Fortich has over 25 years of extensive experience in the banking and finance sector, serving as Stern Bank’s Chief Risk Officer. In this role, he concurrently holds positions as the bank’s Chief Compliance Officer and BSA/OFAC Officer. His career path has exposed him to various facets of compliance within South Florida's financial landscape, with a primary focus on maintaining robust BSA, AML, Consumer Compliance, and OFAC programs while actively mitigating risks.

His compliance acumen originates from his tenure at the State of Florida Office of Financial Regulations, where he conducted investigations into white-collar crime and collaborated closely with Bank Examiners.

As the Chief Compliance Officer for a publicly traded bank in South Florida, Mr. Fortich nurtured strong relationships with Foreign Correspondent Banks across the Caribbean and Latin America. He also spearheaded compliance risk assessments for new business verticals and the expansion of existing products and services.

Mr. Fortich currently teaches at Florida International University -College of Law and is an alumnus of Florida State University, holding a Juris Master in Banking Compliance. He furthered his education at Nova Southeastern University, earning a Master of Business Administration. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Business from St. Thomas University and an Associate in Science in Criminal Justice Degree from Miami Dade College. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, and has previously chaired FIBA’s AML Committee. Recently, he completed the Wharton School of Business – Corporate Governance: Maximize Your Effectiveness in the Boardroom program.
